A pizzeria in Aubagne run by Italians

Looking for a pizzeria in Aubagne quickly leads to the same conclusion: plenty of places use the word, few rest on a real Italian kitchen. At Pepe Zino the pizza comes out of the same kitchen as the day's fresh pasta, at 100 Impasse des Martinets. The dough is worked on site, by an Italian brigade, with quality flours.

That is what separates an Italian pizzeria from a pizza counter: here the Neapolitan pizza is eaten at the table, straight from the oven, within a complete Italian menu. The rest of the meal follows the same line, from antipasto to dolce, in our trattoria in Aubagne. Every topping is detailed on our menu.

Choosing well

How to spot a good pizzeria in Aubagne

Six simple markers to tell an Italian pizzeria from a pizza counter, and how we apply them.

An Italian brigade

Our chefs are Italian, and so is our manager. Recipes are executed the way they are made in Italy, without adaptation.

Dough worked on site

The pizza dough is prepared in our kitchen, with quality flours, just like the fresh pasta of the day.

Products from Italy

San Marzano DOP tomatoes from Campania, olive oil from Puglia, Parmigiano Reggiano PDO, Pecorino Romano, artisanal charcuterie.

Served at the table, straight from the oven

We are a dine-in restaurant only: the Neapolitan pizza reaches the table as soon as it leaves the oven, never in a box.

A menu that goes beyond pizza

Antipasti, fresh pasta, hand-rolled gnocchi, homemade desserts and a selection of Italian wines, from Chianti to Barolo.

A proper dining room

120 seats split between the indoor room and the veranda, with free parking right nearby.

Pizza in Aubagne, the Pepe Zino way

Aubagne has several places to grab a pizza, from takeaway counters to fast food chains. At Pepe Zino, things work differently. Our Italian restaurant, located at 100 Impasse des Martinets, prepares its Neapolitan pizzas in the Italian tradition. Our chefs are Italian, our manager too, and they reproduce Italian cooking exactly as it is practised in Italy, without adaptation. The same standard applies to a pizza as to the rest of the menu.

Choosing your pizza in Aubagne also means choosing your setting. Our 120 seats are split between a warm indoor dining room and a 60-seat veranda, in a refined atmosphere. Parking is free and easy right nearby. This is something many of our guests appreciate, whether they come from Aubagne itself or from neighbouring towns.

A 100% homemade kitchen

At Pepe Zino, everything is made in-house. Fresh pasta is prepared daily in our kitchen, and our Neapolitan pizzas follow the same logic: the work is done on site, by Italian chefs, using quality flours. That is what separates a complete Italian restaurant from a counter serving reheated industrial pizzas.

This standard also explains a choice few pizzerias make: Pepe Zino is a dine-in restaurant only. We offer neither takeaway nor delivery. A Neapolitan pizza is meant to be eaten straight from the oven, at the table, not twenty minutes later out of a box. If you are looking for artisanal pizza in Aubagne made the right way and served as it should be, this is the place.

Products imported directly from Italy

A large majority of our products are imported directly from Italy: olive oil from Puglia, San Marzano DOP tomatoes from Campania, Parmigiano Reggiano PDO, Pecorino Romano, artisanal charcuterie and quality flours. Fresh local produce, vegetables and meats, is selected with the same care. Every ingredient is chosen to guarantee the authenticity of our dishes. To see all our toppings and creations, check our full menu.

Our pizza menu: Neapolitan classics and house creations

At Pepe Zino, the pizza menu balances canonical Neapolitan recipes and our chef's ideas. The Marinara is the purest, tomato sauce, garlic and oregano, no cheese, just like in Naples. The Margherita, tomato sauce, mozzarella and basil, remains the ultimate test of a pizzaiolo's skill. The Regina adds mushrooms, cooked ham and basil, while the Diavola appeals to spice lovers with its spianata. For cheese enthusiasts, the Quattro Formaggi combines creme fraiche, parmesan, gorgonzola, mozzarella and smoked provola.

Our house creations go further. The Genovese pairs Ligurian pesto cream with burrata and parmesan. The Tartufo plays the truffle card: truffle cream, mozzarella, truffle burrata, rocket and parmesan. And our signature pizza, the Pepe Zino, brings together creme fraiche, mozzarella, mortadella, goat cheese and pistachio. The dessert menu even features a Nutella pizza. You will find all of these on our full menu.

Beyond pizzas, our menu features antipasti, handmade gnocchi, risottos and meat or fish dishes prepared to the same standard. Our wine list showcases a fine selection of Italian wines, from Chianti to Barolo. That is the difference between a plain pizza counter and a complete Italian pizzeria-restaurant.

What is the best pizza at Pepe Zino in Aubagne?

It is a question we hear often, and the answer depends on what you are after. For a first visit, the Margherita is the benchmark: it reveals the real work behind the dough. For something more indulgent, guests reach for the Tartufo with its truffle burrata, or the Pepe Zino, our signature pizza with mortadella and pistachio. Cheese lovers go for the Genovese, with its Ligurian pesto and burrata.

Monday to Friday at lunch, our Lunch Set lets you try a pizza, choosing from Marinara, Margherita or Regina, with a drink. For younger guests, the Menu Bambino offers a Margherita with a drink and an ice cream. Rather than crowning a single best pizza in Aubagne, we would rather each guest find their own.

What makes our pizzas stand out in Aubagne

The difference is not down to a single element but to the whole. A 100% Italian team, products mostly imported from Italy, traditional recipes without adaptation, and a kitchen that is entirely homemade. Our guests come back because the taste does not change from one week to the next.

This philosophy is that of Pepe Zino, the grandfather of the two founders: generosity, authenticity and sharing, making real Italian family cooking accessible to everyone. Learn more about the family story behind Pepe Zino, or read our complete guide to Italian pizza in Aubagne.
